Day 23 Miller, South Dakota, (74 miles)

The Big Riders are riding to Miller today across the South Dakota Prairie. They will see wheat fields, wheat fields and more wheat fields. Be careful where you stop to pee. The highway patrol will pull you over and try to ticket you for indecent exposure if they catch you relieving yourself in the ditches (Ask James from 08, he would know). Use the South Dakota Restrooms whenever possible:

Hi, its Wednesday the 14th of July. I talked briefly with Chuck last night but we didn't talk long as he had bad cell phone reception. He said that the day was tough on him with mostly cross or head winds all day (Most of the day all the faster that the riders could go was 11-13mph). Plus he has gotten a sinus infection which is making him tired and uncomfortable with the wind blowing in his face. He will see a doctor in New Ulm. The riders stopped at Highmore, SD for lunch. Most of them ate at the Thunderbird Bowling Alley, some of them played pool, and of course they had to take pictures of the road kill menu on the wall.

Chuck was bummed out that the little road side park that we stopped at in 08, about 10-20 miles out of Miller, to get out of the heat was closed down. The buildings are all gone and the park is overgrown/fenced off(probably another instance of a shortage of county/state money for parks). He said he had been looking so forward to stopping there and getting water, sitting in the shade, and most important of all use the restroom. Well, he had to wait until getting to Miller. The Big Riders stayed at the Miller High School last night and Chuck had a really good steak dinner in a downtown restaurant before turning in.

Chuck looking forward to the little rest area outside Tyler
